Come Out to the “Roses for Concrete” Event Tomorrow to Bring Justice for Police Brutality Victims
Last week, Cannabis talk 101 spoke with Mr. Checkpoint and Council-member Johnathan Hernandez. During their conversation with Joe Grande and Blue, the two announced an event named “Roses for Concrete” that will be taking place tomorrow, Saturday September 24th to raise awareness for the ongoing issue of police brutality. Council-member Johnathan Hernandez has first hand been affected by police violence in his own family when a cop took his cousin’s life. Brandon Lopez, Hernandez’s cousin, who was killed on September 28, 2021 by the Anaheim Police Department is the inspiration for this event. All of the musical artists performing were taken right from Brandon’s Spotify. Saturday will be a day to honor him, remember him, and push to raise awareness so that there are less victims of police brutality in the future. This event is an unfortunate reason to come together, but it is important to gather as a community to remember the victims of police brutality. “Roses for Concrete” will feature many speakers such as Chairman Fred Hampton Jr. as well as the families of Brianna Taylor and Jacob Blake. Additionally, many musical artists and DJs will be joining the cause and performing at the event. A few names include Planet Asia, Funk Freaks featuring Diamond Ortiz, PJ Vegas featuring Redbone, and more. This event is free, for all ages, and there will be good food! “Roses for Concrete” is from 12:00pm-5:00pm at the Blue Lot in Santa Ana (119 N Bush Street Santa Ana, CA 92701) tomorrow. Come check out the full event and all of the entertainment, let’s bring justice to Brandon Lopez and the victims of police brutality together, as a community. Check out the flyer below for a full list of performers and speakers.
