Creatives and Cannabis

Read Time:1 Minute, 36 Second

It’s no secret that Marijuana is used by creatives to help open their mind for their art. Artists, writers, musicians, etc. show us some of the advantages that cannabis has by creating beautiful things. But, what exactly are they smoking, and how is it helping them? As a writer myself, I was interested in finding out what makes creatives tick while smoking weed. Here are some things that I have found:

Cannabis helps creatives in four ways;

  1. Invite divergent thinking
  2. Increase verbal fluency
  3. Heighten empathy
  4. Decrease inhibition

For me personally, that last one is always a tough spot. Getting into the mindset of writing is easy enough, but truly not worrying about how it sounds, not being picky about what to say, and not wondering what others will think of the content, the style, the tone, even the writing in its surface form, is one of the most difficult things.

So, what do I smoke to get there?

Pilgrimsoul has compiled a list of the best strains to smoke if you want to get into your creative mind. Here are the top three:

  1. Green Crack

This is good for getting energized, feeling focused, and feeling attuned with your deeper being.

  1. Mimosa (YUM!)

This strain gives you a euphoric feeling, leaving you less inhibited by the world and opening your mind.

  1. Platinum OG

While this strain is of the indica family, it does give you the calm and sleepy feel that is true to its nature. However, when the high slows your mind down, it can give you a minute to process, think, and go in depth with your observations.

These effects are all great for creatives and their craft. Digging deep and understanding your own self is one of the most important things for your art, and if cannabis heightens your ability to get in touch with them, smoke up!
