(Study: Aerosolized Cannabis Significantly Reduces Pain Levels, Improves Quality of Life in Neuropathy Patients by Norml)

An Israeli study published in the journal Pain Reports, suggests that consuming marijuana in an aerosolized form can improve chronic pain from conditions such as neuropathy (Norml). The study used what is called a Syde Inhaler–”a metered selective dose inhaler” (Norml)– that will deliver aerosolized cannabis to patients with chronic pain. The increments were set to 1.5 mg of delta-9 THC every day (Norml).

Over a period of a few months, the patients found that their symptoms improved greatly as their illness-related pain was reduced (Norml). What is novel about using the inhaler to deliver the cannabis is that patients were able to feel an improvement with a significantly smaller dose of cannabis than other inhalation-based medical marijuana (Norml). The results of the study are promising, but researchers still stated that there needs to be a “follow-up in a larger population” (Norml).
