Wax vs Flower

Read Time:2 Minute, 10 Second

Getting high can be a creative process with many methods to choose from. So far there are two main forms of cannabis to choose from, wax or flower. Each option has their own unique attributes and has the ability to create different experiences. Depending on what you are looking for in your high, one may be better than the other.

Wax is a gooey, highly-concentrated resin known for its power. It hits hard and works fast. It is about three times more powerful than its counterpart, flower. Wax does hold a high THC content, making it around about 90% pure THC. It also offers fast relief to help fight against anxiety, pain, insomnia and more. Even though wax can be much more powerful than flower, there are limits to how you can take it.

Wax is pretty much limited to dab rigs and vaporizers. Although limited, many people do prefer to use wax for these very reasons since they offer discrete, intense and non-smoking methods to getting high. In spite of the fact that using wax is pretty subtle and low-key, it isn’t really recommended for new people on the scene to try it right out of the gate, since it’s mainly THC and can create an intense experience.

A classic form of cannabis is flower, which is much more versatile than wax. Flower can be rolled up into joints, put into pipes and bongs and even can be cooked with. Although, it is a classic choice and preferred by many, depending on how you indulge, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to hit. It also needs to be stored away carefully in airtight compartments.

Flowers do have Trichome though, which is the THC infused part of the plant which is responsible for the psychoactive part of it all. Flowers also have their own natural terpenes which interact with THC, picking based on terpenes can allow you to create more individualistic and idiosyncratic highs. Which is better for newer smokers, since with flower they have a bit more control over the high.

Wax and flower are terms that get thrown around a lot and it is constantly argued over which is best. At the end of the day, all it really comes down to is, what are you looking for? Something fast and strong or do you have time to sit down and unwind? Both options are popular for a reason, depending on where you’re at, trying a little bit of everything may be a good thing.
