Celebrating World Mental Health Day With Cannabis
Happy world mental health day! According to the World Health Organization, “The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.” Mental health is an important topic that we need to educate people on and show people how to help themselves when experiencing bad mental health days.
One of the widely known side effects of using cannabis is that it is beneficial for your mental health. I talked to two people close to me who use cannabis and I asked them how it helps them with their own mental well-being. One stated that it “helps me with focus, creativity, and can help me sleep better.” Additionally, both had overlapping responses stating that cannabis helped “calm me down and reduce my anxiety and stress.” To support their statements, Healthline.com summarized a study on how “Researchers did find that pharmaceutical THC — with or without CBD — reduced symptoms of anxiety in people with other medical conditions….” Another study by MIND expressed how cannabis used by patients who have anxiety increased their cognitive performance and reduced anxiety symptoms. While there is not one fix for anxiety and depression, it is key to educate and understand what kinds of things we can do to lessen the symptoms.
While cannabis is not for everyone, it is something that could relieve the hardships and give you a way to relax when in a high stress situation. Researchers are still working today to dive into the ways that cannabis can help ease your mental health. If you want to learn more about how smoking cannabis may fit into your routine trying to protect your mental health, reach out to a doctor and do research on what is best for you. Today and everyday, it is important to reach out to a peer if you are struggling and focus on your own mental well-being.

CBD helps me with anxiety so much, it’s insane. Idk what I’d do without CBD. Happy Mental Health day! <3
